Trade Union annual seminar

The TUC (Trade Union Congress) Women Commission is holding its Annual Seminar in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The theme for this year’s seminar is “Projecting Ways to Eliminate Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Harassment from the World of Work, and Enforce ILO (International Labour Organization) C-190, R 206.” Distinguished Senator Akon Eyakenyi, who holds a PhD and currently serves as the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, addressed the attendees during the TUC annual seminar. She commended the women for responding to the call for the eradication of GBV, which refers to violence targeted at individuals based on their gender or violence that disproportionately affects individuals of a specific gender. Senator Eyakenyi emphasized that the fight against GBV should extend to all humans, rather than solely focusing on women. She encouraged women to fight for justice while maintaining their homely nature, believing that this approach would contribute to their ultimate victory in this battle.

The seminar featured beautiful performances from different groups including secondary schools across the state
