Plateau Massacre: Threat of fresh attacks, UN calls for investigation

Just days after the devastating killing of 195 people in 17 communities across Plateau State, invaders have issued fresh threats of attacks on a community in the state. The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, Stanley Kavwam, revealed in an interview with Arise Television that the terrorists had sent a warning letter of an imminent attack to the Pushit community in the Mangu Local Government Area, his hometown.

When asked about the impending attack, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Alabo Alfred, acknowledged the intelligence, assuring that they were actively working on the threat. Residents of Pushit confirmed being aware of the threatening letter, expressing their deep fear and sleepless nights since learning about the planned attack.

The villagers pleaded for government intervention, highlighting their constant state of fear and the need for swift action to protect lives. Meanwhile, the United Nations has called for a thorough investigation into the Christmas Eve attack that claimed 195 lives in 17 villages across the state. The apparent lack of progress in addressing these attacks has sparked questions and concerns among Nigerians, as they seek clarification on the identity and motives of the perpetrators, the handling of the threat letter, the potential involvement of insiders, and the government’s response to the escalating violence.
