Nkwoegwu ekpe masquerade Bloodshed a must punish for safe promotion of culture and tradition in Abia state

Despite the warning issued by the ekpe masquerade committee against the use of cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, the Nkwoegwu area of Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State experienced a significant disaster. The emergency unit of the Abia Federal Medical Center was inundated with individuals who had been dangerously injured, engaging in fights for their lives. Witnessed were cases of bottle stabbings, cutlass injuries, and more, as these individuals were rushed to the emergency unit to receive urgent medical attention.

In promoting our culture and traditions, it is important to showcase to the world the beauty and safety of our customs, and not allow a few troublemakers to tarnish the tradition. We express our gratitude to the Federal Medical Center in Umuahia for their swift response in ensuring that no lives were lost. Yesterday and this morning, as we left the emergency unit, the hospital staff, particularly Dr. Chukwu prince who promptly performed a surgical operation on an individual who had been stabbed in the head with a bottle, and the nurses and other doctors, demonstrated remarkable efforts in securing the safety of the victims. We urge the security operatives to identify and apprehend those involved in these destructive activities and ensure that they are held accountable according to the law.

May Chi Ndi Abia, who made the heavens and the earth, protect and prosper all Abians in different parts of the world. Amen.
