Peter Obi mourns Herbert Wigwe, CEO of Access Holdings
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the 2023 general elections, has decided to cancel his scheduled trip to Cote d’Ivoire to support the Nigerian Super Eagles. This change of plans comes as a result of the tragic passing of his close friend, Herbert Wigwe, CEO of Access Holdings, and another friend, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, former Group Managing Director of Nigeria Exchange Group PLC, along with his wife and son. In a heartfelt message, Obi expressed his deep sorrow and explained that he made the difficult decision to cancel his trip out of respect for these great individuals who made significant contributions to the country. Despite not being able to physically attend the match, Obi assured the team of his unwavering support, stating that he will remain at home, offering earnest prayers for their success. He emphasized his belief in the team’s abilities and expressed hope that their victory would bring joy to the nation and provide solace amid the pain caused by the loss of these exceptional leaders. Obi concluded by encouraging the Super Eagles to play with passion and determination as they carry the hopes and dreams of the nation on their shoulders, expressing his confidence in their ability to make the country proud.
