Governor Otti Surprises Attendees at Former Senate President Wabara’s Birthday Celebration

A moment of mild drama unfolded in Umuahia as Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, made a surprise appearance at the 76th birthday celebration and grand reception for former Senate President Adolphus Wabara. The event, organized by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), witnessed Governor Otti’s unexpected arrival, creating a buzz among attendees.

Governor Otti, a member of the Labour Party (LP), entered the venue while the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagun, was delivering his speech. His presence amidst prominent PDP figures like Governors Peter Mbah, Bala Mohammed, Godwin Obaseki, and Seyi Makinde caught many off guard, leading to a mix of reactions from party members.

As the crowd reacted energetically to Otti’s entrance, with some PDP members lauding him, others expressed surprise over his attendance. Questions were raised about the absence of immediate past Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu at the celebration honoring the BoT Chairman of his party.

In his address, Governor Otti emphasized his commitment to serving all Abia residents regardless of political affiliations following the conclusion of elections and legal disputes. He addressed concerns about safety in Abia, debunking rumors that suggested it was unsafe to visit the state.

Acknowledging the presence of PDP governors who disregarded alleged security alerts, Otti commended them for attending and praised the celebrant, Wabara, as a respected individual. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State echoed sentiments of rebuilding the PDP’s influence in the South-East region, encouraging party members to strive towards regaining lost territories.
