Brutal Gang-Rape and Murder Shock Enugu Community
Residents of Aku in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State are in a state of shock and anger following a horrifying incident involving the gang-rape of a 13-year-old girl by Fulani herdsmen. Tragically, a brave farmer, Mr Emmanuel, lost his life while trying to rescue the young victim from her assailants.
The community leader, Chineme Agu, expressed deep indignation in a statement issued on Monday. He highlighted the terror and brutality inflicted upon the community by these herdsmen. The incident occurred in Ugwu-Uvuru, a neighboring local government area, although both the girl and the deceased hail from Aku in Igbo-Etiti.
According to Agu, the primary school graduate was mercilessly raped by two armed Fulani men while working on her family’s farm. The traumatized young victim provided a chilling account of the assault, her voice trembling with fear and her body bearing the physical scars of the attack.
Tragically, Emma, the courageous farmer who attempted to intervene and protect the girl, paid the ultimate price with his life. The heartless herders showed no remorse as they continued assaulting the girl even after Emma lay dead from a gunshot wound.
The Aku community is now seeking justice for this heinous crime and expressing their frustration over what seems to be the unchecked impunity of Fulani herders in the region. They have mourned the loss of several vibrant members at the hands of these killer herdsmen.
As tensions escalate, local leaders are urgently demanding action to address the growing menace of Fulani herder violence. They are calling for increased security measures and accountability. The memory of Emma, a hero who sacrificed his life to defend the innocent, will forever be honored. The community demands justice, asserting that Nigeria belongs to Nigerians and such evil should not be allowed to persist any longer.
