Nigerian Christian Tourism Association President Shares Ordeal with Egyptian Airport Police
Dr. Isreal Kristilere, the President of the Christian Tourism Practitioner’s Association of Nigeria, recently recounted his troubling encounter with Egyptian Airport police during a stopover at Cairo International Airport on April 30, 2024.
The cleric, leading a group of 28 pilgrims on a journey to Amman via Egypt Air from Lagos, was falsely accused of assault by a woman he had never met or interacted with. In a video shared online, Dr. Kristilere detailed how the airport police attempted to implicate him in an altercation and pressured him to sign a “settlement document” written in Arabic, following their demand for an apology to the female accuser.
Refusing to sign the document and insisting on an English version, Dr. Kristilere stood his ground despite threats of legal action. The Senior Pastor of Shepherdhill Baptist Church in Obanikoro, Lagos, expressed his shock and distress over the incident, highlighting the potential vulnerability individuals traveling alone might face in similar situations.
Recounting his harrowing experience at Cairo International Airport, Dr. Kristilere raised concerns about the treatment he received and questioned the motives behind the airport police’s actions, reflecting on the implications for other solo travelers who could encounter similar challenges.
