Nigerian Catholic Priest Indicted on Sexual Assault Charges in Texas

A Nigerian Catholic priest, Father Odiong, has been indicted in McLennan County, Texas, on felony sexual assault charges following multiple allegations of sexual and financial abuse.

The investigation began after police received credible information about a 2012 sexual assault. Multiple women came forward with similar accounts of abuse, including groping, sexual assault, and financial exploitation.

Father Odiong was arrested in July and is currently held on a $2.5 million bond. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison for second-degree charges and potentially life imprisonment for the first-degree felony charge.
