Portable Cancels Boxing Match with Speed Darlington

Portable, real name Habeeb Okikiola, and Speed Darlington, aka Darlington Okoye, were scheduled for a celebrity boxing match on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Balmoral Convention Center, Lagos. The feud started when Darlington offered Portable ₦500,000 to perform, which Portable rejected, stating his fee is ₦20 million. This led to heated online exchanges and Portable’s challenge for a fight.

A video shared online shows Portable training in a Lagos gym, hitting a punching bag and lifting weights. Fans recalled his 2023 win over Charles Okocha, with one commenting, “Portable’s looking strong.” His preparation suggested he was serious about facing Darlington.

Speed Darlington has posted taunts on social media, escalating the feud, but no evidence shows him training for the match. The Nigerian Boxing Federation has not commented publicly on this event, though safety protocols are standard for such bouts. No ticket sales have been confirmed.

Meanwhile, on April 10, 2025, Portable announced on Instagram he’s no longer fighting Darlington on grounds that he is an unworthy opponent, instead challenging Anthony Joshua for a ₦100 million bout.

Fans are split, some saying, “He’s dodging,” others supporting his new focus. As of now, the April 18 match appears canceled.
