Aba Faces Power Instability As Aba Power Gas Maintenance Slows Supply

Aba Power Limited Electric (APLE) has announced a temporary reduction in electricity supply due to an unexpected interruption in gas delivery to its primary provider, Geometric Power Aba Limited (GPAL). The disruption stems from critical maintenance work being conducted by the gas supplier, forcing GPAL to pause operations and leaving APL to depend on a limited grid supply to keep power flowing to customers.

The maintenance is expected to be completed quickly, allowing normal power supply to resume soon. However, the reduced supply has hit some residents hard, particularly those in Band C and lower tariff bands, who have reported experiencing little to no electricity since the disruption began. These customers, reliant on consistent power for daily needs, are feeling the strain of the temporary shortfall.

One band C laundry and dry cleaning business man whose shop is along New Umuahia Road and simply identified himself as Chibuzor, decried how the days of outage have been really burdening. “I find it difficult to wash with my machine and iron clothes at the same time because my generator cannot carry it. It’s really a burden because I have so many customers to deliver to,” the man lamented.

However, APLE has assured they are actively coordinating with its gas supplier to speed up the maintenance process and restore full power. Teams are working to optimize the distribution of the limited grid supply across Aba’s neighborhoods, ensuring as many residents as possible stay connected during this period.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and appeal for your patience and understanding. Our commitment to delivering quality power remains steadfast,” the communique released on May 15, read.

While the city awaits the return of stable electricity, APLE is focused on minimizing the impact and keeping customers informed. The company remains committed to delivering reliable power and is urging residents to remain patient as efforts continue to resolve the issue swiftly.
