Nollywood Star Timini Egbuson Sets Record Straight: “I’ve Been Single for Years”

Popular Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has firmly addressed long-standing rumors labeling him a womanizer, revealing that he has been single for the past two to three years. The 38-year-old star made the revelation during a candid conversation on *The Culture League* podcast, joined by Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface and comedian Bovi, where he opened up about his demanding career and its impact on his personal life.

Egbuson, known for his charismatic roles in films and his self-proclaimed “bad boy” persona, dismissed the widespread assumption that he juggles multiple romantic relationships. “A lot of people assume I’m a womanizer. But I’m not,” he stated, emphasizing that his grueling schedule in Nollywood leaves little room for romance. “In the past two, three years, Nollywood has taken over my life in a way that there’s no room, except you will be the most unserious [to womanize]. From being on set all day to getting back tired at 11 pm, I will now start chatting a lady? I don’t have the capacity for that.”

The actor, who has starred in numerous hit films and earned a reputation as one of Africa’s leading actors, explained that his daily routine is consumed by long hours on set, leaving him exhausted and focused solely on his craft. He expressed amazement at how some of his peers manage to date multiple partners, saying, “I even wonder how some of my friends who womanize, date four or five girls simultaneously, have time to attend to all of them.”

The podcast episode, which has since gone viral, featured a playful moment when Boniface directly asked Egbuson, “Are you a womanizer?” prompting laughter from Bovi and a swift denial from the actor. Social media reactions, however, showed mixed sentiments. Some fans found humor in Bovi and Boniface’s skeptical expressions, with one X user commenting, “Bovi is looking at him like he is very sure he is lying.” Others supported Egbuson’s claims, praising his dedication to his career.

This is not the first time Egbuson’s personal life has sparked public debate. In 2021, his ex-girlfriend, Lydia Balogun, accused him of targeting young women and labeled him a “predator” and “cradle snatcher.” Egbuson responded at the time, stating that all his relationships, including his two-year romance with Balogun, involved consenting adults and that their breakup was mutual due to a “volatile” dynamic. More recently, rumors linked him to actresses like Bimbo Ademoye and Sharon Ooja, though both parties denied any romantic involvement.

Despite the speculation, Egbuson remains unbothered by the “bad boy” stereotype, admitting on the podcast that he enjoys the image to some extent. He reiterated his focus on his career, which has spanned 15 years without a break, making him one of Nollywood’s most consistent figures. In a previous interview with *Saturday Beats*, he described his love for Nollywood as his primary passion, saying, “I am only in love with Nollywood—my craft and what I do on screen.”

As Egbuson continues to dominate the Nigerian film industry, his latest comments have sparked fresh discussions about the balance between fame, personal life, and public perception. For now, the actor seems content with his single status, prioritizing his career over romance and letting his work speak louder than the rumors.
