The city of Aba, Abia State, is filled with anticipation as the state prepares to host President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Friday, October 3, 2025, for a historic visit to commission a series of transformative road projects spearheaded by Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.

The visit, described as a landmark moment for Abia, underscores the strengthening partnership between the federal and state governments in advancing sustainable infrastructure. Governor Otti, alongside the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, has rallied Abians, including the vibrant Aba business community, town unions, youths, and women groups, to turn out en masse for a grand civic reception at Aba Township Stadium at 10:00 a.m., honoring the President’s presence.

The commissioning will spotlight seven key roads recently completed in Aba, the state’s commercial hub, including the iconic Port Harcourt Road—a dual carriageway with three lanes each and modern drainage systems—alongside Ohanku Road, Ndoki Road, Ajiwe Street, Umuatako Road, Chief Nkoro Street and Spurs in Abayi, and Gabriel Nwosu Street. These projects, equipped with solar flood lights as a standard feature of Otti’s infrastructure vision, reflect a commitment to safety, modernization, and sustainable development. The roads are part of Governor Otti’s broader mission to revitalize Aba’s economic potential, addressing decades of infrastructural neglect and positioning the city as a beacon of progress in the Southeast.

Speaker Emeruwa has echoed Governor Otti’s call for a befitting welcome, emphasizing the significance of the President’s visit as a testament to Abia’s strides under Otti’s leadership. In a recent statement, Emeruwa urged residents to showcase Abia’s unity and hospitality, noting that the event marks a milestone in federal-state collaboration. The Abia State Government, through the Commissioner for Information, Prince Sir Okey Kanu, has expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support and recognition of these achievements, framing the visit as a celebration of shared goals for Nigeria’s development.

As preparations intensify with local businesses and community groups mobilizing to ensure a memorable reception, the commissioning and civic reception are expected to draw thousands, showcasing Abia’s cultural vibrancy and economic resilience. For Governor Otti and Speaker Emeruwa, this visit is not just a ceremonial event but a powerful affirmation of Abia’s renaissance, setting the stage for further transformative projects in the the New Abia.
