Ikenna Nnaji Lights Up Enugu Tech Festival with Bold Blueprint for African Deep Tech Dominance
ENUGU, Nigeria
Ikenna Nnaji, Director of Marketing at Terra Industries, delivered a powerful and widely acclaimed address at the closing ceremony of the Enugu Tech Festival 2026 on 27 February, inspiring thousands of young innovators gathered at the International Conference Centre. The marketing executive from one of Africa’s leading defence-technology startups used the platform to issue a clear, actionable call to the continent’s next generation of builders, combining his company’s recent $11.75 million seed success with practical advice for scaling African deep-tech ventures globally.
Drawing on his experience steering strategic communications for Terra Industries – the Nigerian firm developing autonomous security systems to safeguard critical infrastructure across the continent – Nnaji emphasised how authentic storytelling and strategic positioning can help African startups attract international capital and attention. His session formed a fitting climax to the four-day “Coal to Code” festival, which attracted over 50,000 participants and positioned Enugu as Nigeria’s emerging technology hub.

In his most memorable passage, Nnaji declared to the audience: “The 2026 Enugu Tech Festival has spoken. My message to African youth is simple: we need tech infrastructure to kill unemployment; be consistent and build your brand every single day; and remember that trust is the secret sauce in every tech business. The world is watching Africa – let’s code our future.”
The address was hailed by organisers and delegates alike as one of the festival’s standout moments, reinforcing Enugu’s ambition to lead Nigeria’s transition from resource-based economy to digital and technological powerhouse. With record attendance and high-profile participation, the 2026 edition has set a new benchmark for African tech gatherings focused on tangible outcomes and youth empowerment.
