Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, a towering figure in Nigerian Christianity and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. His family announced his passing on October 13, 2025, describing it as a “triumphant homegoing” after a life dedicated to God’s service.
Born on January 7, 1945, in Asaga, Ohafia, Abia State, Ukpai’s journey from humble beginnings to global evangelist inspired millions across Nigeria and beyond. For over 60 years, Ukpai’s ministry transformed lives through massive crusades, healing revivals, and humanitarian initiatives.
Based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, his non-denominational UUEA championed medical outreaches, education, and community development, earning him respect across denominations.
